Manufacturing the future – Transforming the Industry

Posted on: 02/06/2023

Manufacturing is vital to all aspects of modern life – and currently it is in a state of development, growth, and transformation unseen in recent times.

There are three fascinating aspects to this ongoing transformation: new technologies, massive growth and new dynamics in the supply chain combined with the recognition of the need to move to more sustainable working practices.

There have also been two dramatic challenges in recent times to UK manufacturing. The complexities of Brexit, with fundamental changes and new restrictions, along with the unprecedented devastation to UK from the Covid pandemic have hit manufacturing hard. In response, forward thinking companies have been forced to adapt and innovate in order to survive and move forward.

Industry is also being transformed by a change in mindset fuelled by a growing focus in society for sustainability. This is not only due to the important ethical considerations, but also in response to massive pressure from consumers.

To meet all these challenges, manufacturing and industry need a skilled and professional workforce. However, there is currently a shortage of new workers, with many skilled technicians and tradespeople approaching retirement. In response, education and training is being focused on in new and interesting ways, such as valuable apprenticeship schemes that provide real opportunities for young people.

In our latest in – depth and fascinating programme, ‘Manufacturing the Future – Transforming the Industry’ Executive TV examines these issues and challenges via expert opinion from two leading organisations, featuring discussion from their key personnel.

Ryno Ltd design, manufacture and supply finishing products and systems to the construction industry.

BST Detectable Products are a supplier of detectable products for the food industry, used across the UK.
