For the public sector, digital transformation is changing. Pressures on public expenditure as well as changing citizen needs are now driving the need for digital evolution in the public sector; digital transformation is no longer a private sector priority. But keeping up can be difficult, as the pace of technological innovation is often overwhelmingly fast. At Executive TV, in Digital Evolution, the latest programme in our Digitalisation of the Public Sector series, we take a look at some of the challenges facing the public sector and how they are being met.
In this programme, we hear from a range of companies who are working with the public sector to drive digital evolution. Leap Beyond is a multinational boutique consultancy specialised in big data and bringing big data projects into high impact solutions. Jaggaer is the world’s leading provider of comprehensive source-to-pay solutions, providing unparalleled visibility, insights and recommendations to procurement leaders and suppliers. Placecube is a digital innovation company specialising in growing digital places for government, businesses, employees, partners and customers. We also hear from Improvement Service, HM Prison and Probation Service and the London Borough of Camden who is working in partnership with these companies to drive digital evolution in their respective organisations.
Digital Evolution will be the first broadcast on SkyTV Channel 191 on Sunday 12th May at 10.00am and repeated on Sunday 26th May at 10.00am. After the initial broadcast, the programme will then be available online at with the rest of our digital archive
Advances in technology are transforming the way we operate and consequently changing the way our public services interact with us. The digital industry is evolving at breakneck speed and keeping up with it sufficiently can be difficult. Currently, our public services still rely on some older IT infrastructure, which can hold them back on delivering high-quality services, but that is changing. Transforming our public sector through digital evolution will be a steady process. There has already been significant progress, but further infrastructure needs to be put in place to help incorporate new platforms in the future.
