Continuing our series on IT in the public sector, Executive TV are happy to announce Securing The Public Sector. This program will discuss a wide range of topical issues including the regulation and use of data and how we can secure our public systems against outside attack.

The past few years have seen cyber issues shoot up the national agenda. Across the world we have seen high profile data breeches and data use scandals. We are more aware than ever that our data need to be secured and protected. The arrival of GDPR has seen some shifts in how data is handled, but already digital activists are asking for firmed laws. The high profile Wannacry attacks have highlighted just how vulnerable our public IT infrastructure is. Security has never been more important, particularly for the private data held by government agencies.

Securing The Public Sector brings together three data protection experts that serve the British public sector. Gemserv provide a wide range of data services, including data protection, regulatory compliance and risk management. IT Lab are security experts, managing security for customers across the UK from their security control centre. Dacoll provide automatic number plate readers and have been working to ensure ethical data use for over a decade. We’re proud to have brought together this wide range of contributors and to present a lively debate about hot button issues.

Securing The Public Sector will be first broadcast on our usual channel, Propeller TV (Sky 185) on Sunday 19th of August at 10.30am, and repeated on Sunday 2nd of September at 10.30am. After the initial broadcast the program will be available online at www.executivetv.org with the rest of our digital archive.
