Manufacturing the Future: ‘The New Age of British Manufacturing’
Posted on: 07/12/2022
British manufacturing has a long and proud history – ever since the industrial revolution, Britain has been a world leader, pioneering new ways of working and innovative technologies. However, recent challenges such as the pandemic and Brexit, along with skills shortages and rising energy costs have forced manufacturers to adapt.
Brexit introduced new import and export rules which have posed significant issues with supply chains and parts availability as well as staff shortage from Europe. Following this, the pandemic caused further disruption and implications for production, demand and supply chains which are key issues for manufacturers. There are also problems that have developed over a longer period including challenges surrounding recruiting and retaining staff and attracting young people to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry.
However, the British manufacturing industry has many talented individuals, from CEOs to innovators. Technology is moving fast, and many exciting developments such as digital technology and 3D printing are revolutionising the industry as we know it.
This ‘New Age of British Manufacturing’ is the focus of Executive TV’s latest programme, which welcomes the views of manufacturing industry leaders in a discussion of these fascinating topics.
