From saving companies thousands of pounds from reducing their CO2 output, the digitalisation of the private sector continues to evolve.

New technological advances in the sector, from 5G to the internet of things (IoT) are changing the ways that companies can communicate with their customers and utilise data in real time. However they risk falling behind in a world where the technology goes through two to three life cycles in a decade. At Executive TV, the latest programme in our series; Digital Infrastructure, we look at some of the challenges facing the private sector in the era of the digital transformation.

In this programme we hear from several companies working with the private sector in this area. Soitron are an IT service management company that has worked on establishing voice biometric security technology for major European banks to reduce the time it takes identify and authenticate customers. Glue Reply is a specialist company that supports companies in taking control of their data through a common data structure. E-Sign are a leading software integration and API company that assists company in moving to a cloud-based and paperless direction.

Digital Infrastructure will be first broadcast on our usual channel 191 on Sunday 23rd February at 10am, and repeated on Sunday 15th March at 10am. After the initial broadcast, the programme will then be available online at with the rest of our digital archive.

Digitalisation of the private sector is a project that has significant challenges. As one of the contributor’s mentions, like the industrial revolution of the early 19th century and the Thatcherite revolution of the 1980s, technological advances may see people lose their jobs and be left behind. As well as this, but the technology moves so fast that companies that can quickly fall behind. But the potential of the digital transformation in 5G, the Cloud, IoT and AI would allow companies to improve efficiency, lower costs and carbon footprint as well as increased data from their customers, digitalisation is here to stay.
